Oil on Canvas Portrait of a Boy

Fine portrait of a boy, oil on canvas, attributed to Ralph Earl, circa 1780. Earl went to England in 1778 and returned to New York in 1785. This portrait has a New York history. The sitter is unknown. 24” x 20” without frame. A similar portrait of William Carpenter by Ralph Earl dated 1779 in the Worcester Art Museum is illustrated in Kornhauser, Ralph Earl 1991, pg. 115 #10.
