Antiquing in the Berkshires
Samuel Herrup has been selling antique furniture, folk art, ceramics, and paintings since 1971. The business offers excellent examples of American furniture in the Pilgrim, William & Mary, Queen Anne, Chippendale and Federal periods. Style, design and originality are important to us. Each piece is guaranteed as to age, origin, and condition.
Our business also offers excellent pieces of American folk art, including folk art portraits by such artists as Ammi Phillips, William Prior, and Salisbury Field. Folk art miniature watercolors, landscapes, and family records are usually on hand. We also offer folk sculpture such as weathervanes, cigar store Indians and other carvings.
Ceramics – American, European, and Chinese Export are a major part of our business. We always offer fine examples of American redware and stoneware as well as a variety of English pottery, including delft, creamware, salt glaze, and mocha. Other ceramics usually include Italian majolica, German stoneware, Dutch Delft and European faience. Chinese Export pottery emphasizes unusual pieces, some for the American market.
Textiles - American, English & European - are available. American Needlework such as samplers and embroidered pictures are available as well as bedcovers and hooked rugs.
Metalwork is also offered, including andirons and candlesticks from Britain, America and the Continent.
